"I always take a set of bamboo cutlery everywhere with me - it means you never use plastic cutlery when eating out."

Three dream dinner party guests: "Muhammad Yunus, Loyle Carner, Yotam Ottolenghi"

"Use alternatives to everyday disposable items - reusable cotton pads, handkerchiefs, make up remover pads. They're a bit of investment but committing to even one purchase a month is so cost-effective and makes a big difference!"

Sophie

"Favourite environmental book: The Wall by John Lanchester"

Ali

"My best up-cycling tip is to buy second-hand plainer items and give them a new lease of life with simple embroideries. You can find really nice line drawings online which are easy to replicate with needle and thread and make personalised items (these also make really nice gifts!)."

"I love my bamboo non-plasic toothbrush! (The recycled packaging makes a real difference too.)"

Sheldon

Best second-hand buy: "a gold-plated watch in a charity shop for about 90c, the owner thought it was broken and thus had a purely fashionable value. As it happens, the watch was powered by being wound up, so saved me having to buy and recycle batteries too!"

Maddy

Best second-hand buy: "A long-sleeve 2004 Sunderland home kit."
